Yeah, We Know...

I had no intent of making this post. I had no intent of any kind of public announcement on this at all. But, it seems that there are feet eager to run and tell news that is not theirs, and the mouths attached to these feet, in their haste to spill the beans, have neglected to make sure they have the facts.

Why make sure you've got the facts, when you have a perfectly plump and juicy bit of gossip, right?

Some time ago, I was asked if I would consider going into mission.

After a week, I managed to get my jaw out of the dirt again.

Earlier this year, my lovely wife and I visited Lae City Mission, which is in Lae (obviously), Papua New Guinea. We stayed for a week, saw as many sights as we could process, and then some more. We shook more hands in one short week than in a lifetime back home. We had great conversations with great people. We missed our children terribly. We came home exhausted.

And now we seek to return. We believe that Lae is where God wants us to serve for the foreseeable future. So we say, "Thy will be done."

So, why the title?

It's a theme which recurs whenever the subject comes up.

Yeah, we know that it's a long way away from family.

Yeah, we know that we are going to miss people, that life will go on while we are not in it, and that the same pain will be felt by some back here at home.

Yeah, we know that we have three young boys. Yeah, we know that we will need to homeschool two of them next year. Yeah, we know that we have a fourth child on the way.

Yeah, we know that there is a huge need for the Gospel in Australia. We know that we are both equipped to speak to the culture here, while moving over there will mean learning another language, and another culture.

Yeah, we know.

We. Know.

Thankfully, we also know we will not be acting in our own strength, and that if this truly is our Father's will for our lives, then He will give us every single thing we need to do it.

Zechariah 4: 6
Then he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts.

2 Corinthians 12: 9-10
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
